Baltimore Inner Harbor
This historic landmark is the leading tourist destination in Baltimore, Maryland. The harbor brings in 13 million visitors per year and is located at the Northwest Branch of the Patapsco River. Since the 1700’s, Baltimore has been one of the major U.S. seaports. In the beginning, the harbor was used mainly as a small frieght and passenger port until 1950 when economic hard times ended the use of the port. On July 1, 1980, Harborplace, the waterfront festival marketplace, was built and is now home to many tourist attractions.
Make sure to visit the Harbor when you come to Baltimore. The restaurant selection is outstanding (it’s a great place to get crab!). From the Harbor, you can visit the BACVA Visitor’s Center, sign up for a sightseeing tour, walk over to the Aquarium, or just do a little shopping. The Harbor is a must-see on any visit to Baltimore.
